The Right Worshipful The Mayor of Bath (Councillor Colin Barrett) will officially open the Bath Coffee Festival with Michelin-starred celebrity chef Martin Blunos.

10:15 - 10:45

Celebrity chef, Martin Blunos, shows us how to flavour foods with coffee

Main Stage

As well as providing a fantastic opening to the festival, celebrity chef Martin Blunos will wow visitors with a fantastic demonstration creating a delicious coffee inspired savoury dish. Come along to see (and taste!) this alternative use for coffee! It is guaranteed to be mouthwatering!

Martin appears regularly on television and radio with regular slots as Guest Chef on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen with James Martin, ITV Daily Cooks and BBC Good Food channel among others. He made ‘Tasting Times with Martin Blunos’, a ten part series for ITV and was chosen to cook for Her Majesty The Queen during her Jubilee year, which was documented in a 30 minute television programme and recently appeared on BBC1 in ‘All The Queen’s Cooks’. He appeared in a new series for ITV – Taste the Nation in 2009.

Martin will be at the festival for the whole weekend and will be happy to answer any cooking queries you may have!

Barista Demonstration by Jose Melim, South West Barista Champion

MAIN STAGE

Jose Melim has proved himself to be one of the country's leading baristas, having won the SW Region of the UK's 2010 Barista Championship in great style as well as ranking in the top 4 in the UK for Latte Art.

In addition to launching his own line of speciality, hand-roasted coffee at the festival – Lazy Jose Coffee – he also undertakes barista tuition and demonstrations. At the festival he will be demonstrating his passion for coffee and the skills and knowledge required to make the perfect cup of coffee.

Latte Art Masterclass by Daisy Rollo

Main Stage

Daisy Rollo from Coffea Arabica is passionate about coffee and will be sharing her knowledge and expertise in barista training. Latte art is a stylish technique for baristas to give a polished finish to their coffees. Daisy will demonstrate how to create a variety of patterns on the surface of coffees using the distinct contrasts between the coffee and milk colours.

Taylors of Harrogate - The Art of Blending

Main Stage

As the UK’s best-selling coffee brand* Taylors are ideally placed to share their expertise on how to produce delicious coffee.

Their head coffee buyer, Mike Riley, will take to the stage to offer a lively and informative session on the art of blending coffees from different origins to creating a best-selling blend. It was Mike who personally created Taylors’ signature blend, Lazy Sunday, many moons ago. Here, he will taste, slurp and spit his way through this demonstration to bring this art to life.

Aysin Aydogdu - Turkish Coffee, the traditional way

MAIN STAGE

Stories of Turkish coffee and a little bit of bellydancing.

This presentation will be for those who want to enter UK Cezve/Ibrik
Championship, as well as for anyone who wants to make their own turkish coffee at home or just to experience a traditional way of coffee making.

The UK'S 1st Cezve/Ibrik Championship takes place on 23rd of May. The competition celebrates coffee that is produced in the tradition of Greece, Turkey and the Middle East. This colourful competition has attracted great interest, with its elaborate costumes, entertainment and great coffee.

Coffee is not just for drinking!

Derek Stansfield has a unique passion for painting with coffee and he will be showcasing his talents at the festival. Traditionally Derek is a watercolour painter however after experimenting with the more unusual medium of coffee, demand has grown for his artworks and the lessons that he leads both here and in America. Derek will be demonstrating the art of coffee painting and encouraging others to get creative!

Taylors’ Head of Coffee Mike Riley is a very well travelled coffee buyer and has been visiting different coffee-producing countries for over 20 years. Few people have such a fantastic grasp of what the different origins offer in terms of flavour, and Mike has many uplifting stories about the improvements he’s seen on farms we’ve invested in over the last two decades. At Taylors he’s known as the Indiana Jones of Coffee – and this is your chance to find out why!
